Random Thought..

So, I was in the public library down by Bryant Park studying for my finals. Papers, pens, laptop, phone, wires, basically everything I had in my bag was laid out in front of me. Content with everything, I was in my own world of math (math final coming up aaahhhh) when suddenly I had the urge to run to the restroom. (UGH).

There was no way I would pack everything up in the middle of studying, lose my great awesome corner spot, go pee and come back and unpack. That was just waaay to much of a hassle. So I did what many people do: "Hey, do you mind watching my stuff for a bit?" to a COMPLETE STRANGER.

So I went to do my business and while at it I thought, why do people do this? Ask a complete stranger to watch our belongings while we step away for a minute or two. What if the person who was supposed to watch the things took off with them?!

I guess it's just that peace of mind we get when we know someone will keep an eye out, or is it because we get  the peace of mind knowing if anything does happen to our stuff, we have someone to hold responsible other than ourselves??
Hmm.. Funny the amount of trust we put into strangers.
